I was very skeptical of the naysayers, claiming better performance on WIFI than on this ethernet adapter. While the theoretical speeds of AC are faster that 100Mbps, the realities frequently result in any wired connection being more consistent and stable than a wireless connection.

Except this one.

Hoping to enjoy an evening of streaming content without buffering I excitedly connected this adapter to my firestick and then my ethernet cable to the adapter. Setup was certainly easier than WIFI as none was required. I queued up a video from my file share and pressed play. Almost immediately the video buffered. Not looking so great. I waited for the first buffer to load and hoped it would be the last but soon the video became unwatchable. Disheartened I disconnected the adapter. The Firestick immedaiately went to my 5GHz WIFI and starting the video again it began to play, much more smoothly than with the wired adapter. However, it again began to buffer. I forced it to connect to my 2.4GHz WIFI and after the buffer loaded once, the video played without issue.

Even with a very questionable WIFI setup that has issues with buffering, the impetus for purchasing this device, the playback was better using WIFI than with the wired network adapter. The verdict, this adapter is an absolute fail and will be of no benefit to anyone, in every scenario, save the complete non-existence of a wireless network, the user will be better off without this device. Even in that case the money would be better spent on a WIFI access point.

Very sad, and quite perturbed that it is only 10/100, but the performance is far worse than that, a 100mbps. The video I was attempting to watch has an average bit rate of 12mbps w/ occasional peaks at 18mbps. If Amazon cannot produce a wired adapter capable of better than 18mbps, then they should not produce one at all.

I connected this Ethernet adapter to my firestick, and then the power cord for the firestick connects to the ethernet adapter since the firestick only has the one input. Just so everyone can understand this clearly, the power comes from the wall outlet, connects to the Ethernet Adapter and the Ethernet Adapter connects to the firestick so, in essence, the power cable provides power for both the ethernet adapter and the firestick. Anyways, I was noticing very slow internet speeds (~ 15 mbps) using a speed test app downloaded on my firestick which I thought was weird since i normally test about 250 mbps on my laptop when its directly plugged into my router. So, I just assumed it was the in capabilities of the firestick to handle the higher speed. I then, for shoots and giggles, decided to disconnect the ethernet adapter and use only the firestick's built-in wifi connection and then - whamo! So much faster! For me, the Wi-Fi of the firestick performs better than using the direct connection of this ethernet adapter! So my advise to you is if you are so far away from your wi-fi connection that you get a weak signal from it, then I suppose hardwiring the ethernet cable to the firestick using this adapter might work for you. But if the firestick is close enough to the router (less than 20 feet) I suggest to just use the built in Wi-Fi of the firestick.
This a word from David78212 Talk Fixes WiFi issues....
So i've had the Fie for a couple of months... The whole time I've had it, I've had to reboot about 3-4 times a day! Tried everything 2.4 - 5ghz and both worked the same - poorly...If I could only connect by ethernet? The newest Fire no longer has an ethernet port, so that's out.
Back-up I ALWAYS have an issue with WiFi because I live in Apt. complex and am surrounded by WiFi and everything has an issue with signals being interfered with... I know I know, 5ghz is supposed to be better... it's not.
So I plugged this in, and immediately connect to the internet and don't have to reboot 4-5 times a day... just plug it in, plug in Fire stick, and router gives it an IP, and boom! I'm online and not struggling with WiFi working when it wants to. No configuring, just plug in the network cable, plug in power, plug in the FIre, that's it.
My friend Angelo DeMelfi said Works well out of the box - just hangs off the firestick adding more strain to hdmi port.
Item works perfectly but hanging from the bottom of the firestick on a 3 inch very thin wire - as the item operates it generates heat and the power wire become brittle as well as adds more weight to the hanging eyesore. If you don’t take steps to rectify this early on you may need to replace pieces in the future because of this. Why doesn’t Amazon just make an all inclusive unit that has an rj-45 network plug. Other than that the item works perfectly out of the box.
This a word from CAN experience Connection not recognized.
The only reason I purchased this device was to keep my Fire TV off the wifi connection and leave the bandwidth for other devices. Unfortunately, the internet settings will not recognize the direct ethernet connection from the adapter, so wifi remains the only solution. This includes following all directions on Amazon's website for the device.

Unfortunately, I was too busy to plug the adapter in until after the return window closed. Wasted money.
As Michelle.B.K Talk Amazon ethernet adapter for firestick stopped working after 4 months..
Ordered this on May 21st of 2018. Worked fine up until Up until this morning of October 1st the fire stick will continue to work if plug directly into the TV. This adapter stopped working and will not work at all. I called Amazon and said there was nothing they could do about it. Just a warning to anybody else planning on buying This. I follow the troubleshooting instructions of unplugging and plugging back in unplugging and turning the power off in the fire stick unplugging it and leaving it set for a while disconnecting from the fire stick everything on their page for troubleshooting and none of it worked. All I was told was I'd have to buy a new one if I wanted it. After just a few months I don't think so.
This a word from lsb said It works, It's an adapter..
I would be pissed if it didn't work, it's just an adapter, I really can't see why Amazon just didn't include a Ethernet plug in the Fire Stick, Puzzles me. My 1st generation Amazon Fire which is still working has a built in Ethernet plug, not everyone has a great wireless system, Amazon should have thought of this in the first place.
This a word from Al Fisher Talk It actually works!!!.
This product really works. I usually don't write these goofy reviews but I'm thinking this might help somebody. For a long time I was frustrated with having to use wi-fi with the firestick because of buffering issues. Buffering while watching a movie is like getting a haircut and the barber stops just to start talking about sports. So I got nervous when I first tried it with my 1st generation firestick and it didn't work. So word to the wise it isn't compatible with the 1st generation firesticks. However I do have another firestick which is a 2nd generation and it worked like a charm! I was able to use a 75 foot ethernet cable from the firestick in my bedroom to the modem in the middle of the house in the kitchen. Its working great. So if anybody is wondering, stop wondering if you want a stable connection with your firestick but just remember, 2nd generation and up!
My friend Big Daddy experience No more buffering!.
No more buffering! This adapter is worth every penny and more. I would recommend this adapter for anyone who has buffering issues.
As Amazon Customer Talk A much needed accessory for the fire stick..
Earlier this year I purchased three fire sticks for my home TVs so I could give cable the boot. The fire sticks would pop up errors practically every day. Depending on what app I was using would dictate what error message would pop up. Long story short it was wireless congestion. This device was a God send. As soon as you connect the device to your fire stick it disables the wireless connection so no configuration required. (It will not work with first generation fire sticks so don't waste your time trying.) Since switching to a direct wired connection to my cable modem, I haven't seen so much as a hiccup from the fire sticks. To be honest, the fire stick needs to be redesigned. A direct wired connection should be part of the design period. Just like the design of the original fire TV.
