My friend Patrick Bradley Talk Great feature rich wireless camera system with limited range..
This is my first wireless camera system. I thought about going wired but just had new insulation blown in my attic and didn't want to disrupt the insulation. I would have given this system five starts but it really needs a range extender that Eufy doesn't have available yet. The range on the cameras could be better. I knew there would be limitations with range but didn't realize I could turn a corner and take one step and signal would drop out from three out of four bars to zero.
Besides the range the cameras are great. Image quality and Night vision seem good enough. Being able to remotely monitor my house and hear what the camera hears is really nice. I can remotely activate the flood light and camera/Homebase alarm on it which is pretty bright and even talk through the cameras.
The Home Base 2 is very small and is nice that it can be wireless to my router so it can be moved in to a more optimum location so the cameras have better signal to the base.
I currently have four EufyCam 2cs and they are all working and I haven't experienced any issues pulling live video up on the Eufy app. When I initially installed the cameras one of the four would not send a notification nor record video when it detected motion. You could tell it saw motion because the IR lights would activate when you walked in front of the camera. I just deleted the camera from the Homebase 2 and reinstalled and it has been working great sense.
Long story short, the cameras are great and easy to install. They just need better range or a range extender to be able to place the cameras everywhere I want to.
I was able to put one of the Eufy cams on my mailbox looking back at my house. A little black spray paint (no paint on the important parts of course) and some double sided tape do wonders.
A review Matthew Hirtz tell us Affordable 2 camera wireless solution, without compromise..
All in all, really happy with the Eufy cam 2C system. Build quality of the cameras and hub are solid. The cameras are really small and easy to mount with the included hardware.
Eufy Security app works as expected. Once you get the hang of it, could maybe be laid out a little better, but pretty comparable to all the other security camera apps.
Setting up was a breeze. Open box. Plug in hub and hardwire to router. Install app, scan QR code and the hub is installed to your account. Adding cameras is as easy as following the prompts in app (and voice prompts from the hub) basically select the type of camera to add... Hold camera at a close distance to hub, hold sync, and the hub emitts an audible tone to sync the cameras. Now the camera is accessible to the app, and you can daily in the settings or do a live view and start figuring out where to mount them.
Mounting is super simple. Two screws thru the little round base, then screw the camera onto the mount. When you need to recharge, you just unscrew the camera and plug into a standard micro USB cable and charge approximately 4 hours.
Camera quality and audio quality are really top notch. The app has settings for motion detection sensitivity and AI for detecting people. You can also set up "activity zones" to pinpoint where you want activity to trigger recording and notification. This all works very well, in my experience, with very few false triggers, from things blowing in the wind, etc. The detection zone is solid, mine triggers from underneath, and the sides very well not missing a crucial recording.
My only gripes is, why include a spotlight or alarm, that is in no way automated to detection? The alarm and spotlight need to be manually toggled on.
All in all a solid system for the price.
Everything is stored locally on the hub, so no subscription is needed, which is a definite plus!
*I've included some videos to show how/when the system starts recording motion. Which is really fast, compared to competitors systems, that typically don't start until the subject is well into their actions. As you can see the camera properly triggers from multiple angles, including approaching from under.
With any battery powered camera, placement of the camera is really key. Eufy does a good visual job of illustrating the angle of the motion sensor view in the quick start manual.
While Bruce tell us Not sure if this is an updgrade for the Cam E or not.
I bought both the Cam E and the Cam C2 models at the same time.
This model compared to the Cam E (previous gen Eufy cam)
It has a spotlight that can be manually toggled from the app.
The battery life is half of the last gen camera.
Currently this model cannot record to a NAS like the previous gen.
There are more sound options with the new camera than with the previous gen.
All in all there are currently trade offs between this and the CAM E. Maybe software updates will change that.
Setup was easy and fast. I had both cameras mounted, connected to the homebase, and updated within about 30 mins. The picture quality is great and they even put a little bubble with a video clip with the persons face that was detected which seems to work well and will be super useful.
There are a couple things that are lacking and I hope they come in future updates. First is Geofencing. Currently you have to open the app and toggle between home, away, or scheduled modes. This is something that almost made me go with Arlo over Eufy. Second there is no IFTTT support. I would love to have this ability to do things such as turn a smart bulb on when a camera sees motion after sunset.
Review Amazon Customer Talk You want it?.
Initial Review:
So far so good! Everything is working great and has an easy set up. I like that the home base is small. Only thing I hope can be done in the future is some type of cover or black color for the camera in case you want to hide it a little more. Eufy is definitely the way to go if looking for a security camera. I have done hours of research and Eufy is at the top of the game.
Follow up: 1 month later
So I tried this camera out different angels and such. Here are some things I learned. One is they need to do a better job on the range. These cameras have a short short range. Next is if you plan on having a camera look down your drive way for vehicles coming this isn’t the one to use. It worked great sometimes using it then some it wouldn’t pick anything but people walking right in front of it up. I also had a camera that went a shade of red. I tired to fix it but all the video had a red tint to it.
So in summary I’d like to try the other cameras they offer cause I hear good things but this camera needs more work. I would say it’s also more for apartments or houses that have some areas to look at.
Customer service is top notch. Worth giving them a shot.
Review Daniel Bostic tell us Left Blink for another amazing privacy-focused product from Eufy!.
I travel for work almost every other week. I originally purchased the Blink camera system because I was thrilled with having month long battery life and the tiny profile cameras I could mount in the corner of my room.
They served me well for a time, but like many people I began having major privacy concerns when Amazon purchased them. Eufy's camera systems are different. No footage is uploaded to the cloud and instead all of your video lives locally on your device. Eufy claims it is encrypted, but I wish they would specify if their employees have any way to ever access the footage or not. Some clarification on the privacy end of things would help further set them apart from Blink and their other competitions.
I decided to take a chance on the Eufy 2C after having an amazing experience with Eufy's video doorbell.
I'm so glad I did! The cameras are low profile and blend in easily in corners or even just mounted to walls. The base station is quite small and looks right at home next to my router, and the app works instantly with no headache. The cameras have crisp video and audio and Eufy provides easy-to-follow instructions for mounting. I do wish the mounts were magnetic or had a way to quickly remove the cameras for charging. Thankfully, after several days I haven't gone down a single tick in battery life so I am hopeful charging will be few and far between. Notably missing is Homekit support and expandable storage, but Eufy promises us that both of these features are coming soon. They seem to have a good track-record for customer service so I am hopeful.
Below I will provide some pros/cons but to be honest none of the cons are dealbreakers, just things I hope Eufy will consider for their next software updates and product iterations.
This is the best security camera system I have ever used and one of the simplest setups as well. I can't recommend this product enough! Go buy it!
Pros:
-GREAT video quality
-Spotlight functionality
-Seamless App and great wireless range
-Good installation instructions
-Battery life/USB charging
-RTSP (record to your network or NAS!)
-Clear audio & 2/way audio
-Good nightvision performance
-Recording light
-Built-in sirens on each camera and homebase
-AI detection means my pets don't set off the cameras (THANK-YOU!)
Cons:
-No HomeKit Support
-No Geofencing (Auto arm on leaving and disarm on arrival)
-16GB/ No way to expand storage with USB or SD (yet)
-Mounts are cumbersome, magnetic would be a lot easier to remove for charging
-No way to re-arrange order of cameras in the app
Another customer Collin say Great setup, preferred over Arlo due to price.
Overall I got this over the Arlo system. Price of the immediate purchase and since no monthly fee it was a no brainer. I did. I two sets 2c and Eufycam 2. I needed two hubs to reach my backyard and front corner of my house. About the furthest two points from each other. Hub range could be better as it has trouble going through walls.
Clarity is good
Detection is about 90%. I think it may require time to ‘settle’. For example I setup and kept walking in front of it and it did t go off for a day. Was about to return when it started working. So do give it a chance. Start with all motion and high sensitivity, and go down from there or switch to human mode.
The light is triggered manually. If I really cared I would have taken off a star but I don’t need that feature.
Note the 2c has a siren but only for alerts. The Eufycam 2 has a siren for tampering which is nice. Haven’t tested either siren.
Charge it up when you receive. I started at 40% out of the box but it dropped quick. Again almost returned it. But I charged to 100% and it’s been fine since then.
There is only motion and human motion detection. Kept seeing AI mentioned for face detection, neither camera had that (I had hoped the Eufycam 2 had it). Alerts do try and show a face if it caught one, but not the face identification I read about.
Eufycam 2 has better battery and that tamper siren, but other than that not much difference (size shape etc). So I’d suggest buying when there is a good deal and buy two sets while at it for the extra hub.
This a word from David tell us Spotlight now functions correctly.
Eufy was very responsive and now has the spotlight functioning properly
My friend Steven experience Jury is still out for me..
I like Eufy products and have plenty of others but I'm still back and forth on keeping these. I like the idea of the human detection but it doesnt seem to work that well and if you change to just capture all motion, it still tries to do the human detection. Seems like they should ditch the human detection until they figure it out. So far it's been a science experiment adjusting settings. The nail in the coffin though is probably the latest camera 12/12 firmware update that's causing a light flare when the camera comes out of sleep mode. No matter what setting and sensitivity I have the cameras on or if you use activity zones or not, the cameras comes out of sleep mode and registers motion even if there is no motion. My one camera is half battery in a month because of all the false positives. My front camera has a view of the road, I've tried setting up an activity zone to exclude the road and this worked at first until the update, now every car triggers the camera to come out of sleep mode and because of the burst of light when that happens, they call register as motion and ignore the activity zone. My backyard camera detects motion all night because the camera constantly wakes up from sleep mode and the light flare gets recorded. Their support is top notch and always great to deal with, but just tired of going back and forth at this point trying to dial every knob I can to get these things to behave and from support it sounds like the new firmware update is here to stay.
While Jeff Talk Great user experience!.
My wife bought this as my birthday present. What I really liked this so far is the over box and camera design and user experience. The package seemed really classy from the plastic wrap (tightened) to the unfolding of the corrugated lid.
The item I got were HomeBase and the two cameras 2C. The installation was fairly easy and quick. I really liked the use of the app that was downloaded from Google Play Store per the instructions said.
The overall camera quality's awesome as I used one for indoor and the other for backyard. The motion detector is great at the sensitivity level (default). I think for a beginner like me, this is a great fit.
While Shop1Direct experience You should read this review on eufy system!.
I have had several wifi camera security systems but none have performed as well as eufy has.
Extremely easy to connect and the cameras wifi connection distance is extremely good. One camera has three walls and 35-40 feet and the picture never drops off the signal. The daytime color and clarity is very good. Each camera has custom settings for you to fine tune, like setting your own motion detection area and size.
If you have Alexa echo you can easily display any camera you want.
Once you download the eufy app to your smartphone you will get notifications if any of your cameras detect a person and will only capture a wide angel image but also a snapshot of the individuals face.
This system does not have a monthly fee you have to pay which makes is an even better deal if your watching your pennies but if you wish you can opt in With eufy and pay for more video saving time.
This eufy system cameras only records when there is a detection in the area so if your looking for a 24/7 recording system this is not what you want!
The cameras have about a 3 second delay to your smartphone and when watching on the echo it will be a little jerky.
Overall one damm good system!
