I was finding these mites on my cats and they were also attacking me. My vet couldn't identify it as a common pet parasite. They were just barely big enough to be seen with the naked eye, I needed something inexpensive to take a better look to see if i could identify them by internet research instead of paying the money to send off the sample. I was so impressed with how well I could see these mites under this simple inexpensive scope! I took this video and picture with simply placing my iPhone on top of the viewer. Although, it made me nauseous seeing them so close up, it also brought out the inner nerd in me and i was fascinated!
Another customer Mark B say Watch them little trichomes change..
A little hard to use at first but in time it's nice. Plenty of power to view trichomes.
A review Karen Little tell us Stellar performance for a reasonable price.
This is a review for the MicroBrite Plus 60x-120x (MM-300) from Carson Optical.

The MicroBrite MM-300 is just the ticket for gardening and exploring. It's lightweight but substantial and has a nice, solid feel.

Like all of the more powerful small scopes, you need to tinker with it a bit to get the best magnification, and at the highest magnification you will also benefit by being still. I've used more expensive scopes and several natural light scopes over the years, and this LED light scope puts them to shame. The results are excellent from full sunlight to dark.

The grip is quite ergonomic for such a small device. You can use the focusing ring with the same hand you're holding it with, and you'll need to use your non-dominant hand to adjust the zooming dial when needed. The LED switch is perfectly located for a quick press of the thumb.

This handheld is also perfect for those of us who choose to avoid button batteries. I wanted an AA battery device because our local stores are often out of the button battery I need. The battery compartment opens easily and the single battery can be accessed in a snap. (AA battery not included).

There is an indent on the top to weave in a lanyard thread.

It's portable but not really pocket-sized unless you stow it in a cargo-type pocket. It's about the size of a deck of cards and twice as thick. I keep it in my gardening apron pocket, in my birding vest pocket, or around my neck with a lanyard. When it's on the lanyard I use it more often just because it's there. It's useful and fun.

Whether you're looking at a praying mantis casing, diagnosing spider mites, checking herb for readiness, or exploring the micro world with kids, this is an excellent portable microscope for the money.

If this review was helpful to you in any way, I would appreciate it if you'd please check "yes" below. Thanks!
Review TheHastyTadpole say Works like a champ!.
With the low price on this scope, I did not expect much. I have been extremely surprised by how well this works. Prevented a premature harvest :D
My friend chandra orr said BUYER BEWARE No returns accepted on this piece of junk..
If I could leave zero stars I would. Not only is this another cheap piece of made in China trash that doesn't work as described, but IT'S NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A RETURN.

I bought this based on the positive reviews, but I don't know what the other reviewers received. What I got was a basically useless handheld microscope. The problem is that you have to place it directly on top of the thing you want to look at. I bought it for inspecting insects, and there's no way that's doing it. Purchase with caution.
A review Peakperformance Ken Talk Excellent Image Quality for a Portable Microscope.
Over the last 55 years, I have used and owned Microscopes including research quality Leitz models so I am not new to magnification, and I am impressed with both the image quality and flatness of field which extends from border to border as well as the relative ease and preciseness of focus and magnification change.

In addition, the built in light is amazingly useful and the fact that it uses a single AA battery is icing on the cake.
This a word from Displaced Minnesotan said See the hairs on an ant's leg. Stable. Standard AA battery..
Worth the extra money over the cheaper ones. I've tried about 7 small pocket handheld "microscopes" like this, for identifying insects in the field and at home. Many are less expensive; some much less. But this is the best so far, because

1) the magnification is more than adequate for my purpose, and the resolution is excellent -- I can see the hairs on the legs of ants, clearly and in sharp focus. Optics are good enough.
2) it takes a standard AA battery, instead of the tiny/costly watch batteries most other scopes require,
3) it has a firm grip, so you can hold it very steady with one hand while focusing with the other, and
4) it has a very user-friendly and fast coarse-focus lever, plus a separate fine-focus knob.
5) the LED light is offset, so the beam hits the specimen at a 40 degree angle. This is important because it eliminates reflective glare that can obscure the image.
6) optics -- good enough

Somebody really thought this one through. The only downsides are that 1) compared to many cheaper ones, the Carson is rather bulky. You can still slip it into a pocket, but it's about the size of a cigarette package (in the field I drop a tiny $4.00 60x scope/loupe in my belt pack). 2) there's so easy way to take a picture. For that, I use the little $10 60x scope/loupe that clips onto my smartphone; the high resolution (10mp) on the phone camera allows zooming in for detail. 3) the light is not dimmable, and sometimes too bright.
My friend Cygarbuff tell us Junk and returns not allowed.
Horrible, if you have an extra $12 you feel like wasting you can either buy this or tear your money up, because that's what you end up with in the end. 8+ years buying from Amazon Prime and this is the first time I was not allowed a return. Sad that the seller peddles junk and then refuses returns. I still can't see on my listing where it states no returns. But it is what it is. By the feedback I'm reading it looks like some buyers had good luck and others are in my same boat. I guess it's a gamble. I'm happy for the people who had good luck. I certainly can understand if we changed our minds or found a better deal but when it works so poorly you think it's broke I think that should be considered for a return. Here's my issue with the product. Visibility is crap and difficult to hold, use and adjust. The quality of the housing and lenses are a joke, but for $12 I wasn't expecting awesome quality but at least one that worked. I rarely leave feedback but if Carson wants to be hide behind Amazon letting them fight their battles on returns then my review needs to be written. I'm wishing everyone better luck than me.
This a word from Mayfield said Five Stars.
Amazing tool for homeschooling! Couldn't be happier with the quality or price.
As Jim said STUNNING QUALITY FOR SUCH A SMALL PRICE.
Here is a microscope at a lower price than most toy microscopes. And yet I do not consider it a toy. You see, I use this very same model nearly everyday on the job in a professional setting. In fact, I enjoy using this model more than pro models of equivalent magnifying power previously provided to me and my technical staff. By the way, those other microscopes cost ridiculously more than the MM-300.

I've been an Electronics Engineer for 50+ years and, after using this scope in both indoor and outdoor environments, I find the following to be true:

(1) The optics are superbly sharp,
(2) The field of view is very flat with negligible edge distortion,
(3) The LED light source is nearly perfect in both its light output and placement,
(4) The focus and zoom adjustments are silky smooth,
(5) The transparent plastic shroud surrounding the objective (bottom) lens easily allows additional light to fall upon the subject,
(6) The ON/OFF switch for the LED light is perfectly located for ease of use, and
(7) The MM-300 costs so little as to be virtually unbelievable.

Regardless of its low price, the MM-300 is NOT a toy. Using it, one can perform precise, professional-level, microscopic examinations. So far I've used the MM-300 to inspect mold for identification purposes, solder joint integrity, developing corrosion on metallic joints, fissures in military process materials, the quality of various protective and conformal coatings, heat damage to capacitors and resistors (etc.), the edges of cutting implements (knives, saw blades, etc.), fungus infiltration of outdoor electrical enclosures, and so much more. But I've also used it outside of work to examine leaves, shells, insects so small they were virtually invisible to the naked eye, etc., etc., etc. The MM-300 is simple enough for use by people of almost any age. I purchased an MM-300 for my 10-year-old grandson, who now uses it for school science reports and for his rock-collecting hobby, and my carpool partner purchased two of these for his young family after examining mine. Virtually everyone I have shown it to has ordered one or more for themselves or as gifts. Look at all the positive reviews this microscope has received. That speaks volumes to the quality of this amazing instrument. If someone had introduced me to the MM-300 and then told me it cost five times more than it does, I would have purchased an MM-300 in a heartbeat. In my professional opinion, the MM-300 is honestly that good.
