Reviews: Certified Refurbished Video Doorbell 2

While Amazon Customer say Battery life is terrible.

Good when it works, the battery only lasts 3 days then you have to change it out with another or wait hours to charge. Then the app resets so you don’t get notifications.

My friend Johnathan W Scott tell us Veteran sleeps well.

As a veteran with PTSD, the door bell cam gives me peace of mind knowing that I can sleep at night and that i have one less thing to worry about.

Another customer Riley Talk Affordable Security, Great Neighborhood App.

The video/audio quality is great, I’m sure it is dependent on multiple factors (WiFi, light access, objects in the way, etc.), but my experience has been excellent. Even though I left the areas of activity pretty sensitive (posted video is of it triggering on a passing vehicle) the battery is not draining quickly as others reported, in fact I don’t think it has dropped from the 90% range since purchase. It has been through three big storms with zero damage or effect of any kind. I get notifications quickly, well before people get to the door, although I have yet to have a stranger ring the bell so I have not tested speaking through the app.
I think the video quality is clear and I can identify people easily both in daytime and night.
There is occasional lag with live view, but I don’t have any determining factors that dictate when it will lag or not.
The setup was easy, even having to drill through brick.

I also love that people in my neighborhood update in the app frequently leaving pictures and videos of suspicious characters or salespeople. It feels like a responsive and active community.

I have zero complaints and am 100% satisfied. I feel safe and secure in the knowledge that I have forewarning of any people who pass by or onto my property.
I have only had it active for about a week, if anything changes I will update, but for now I am very happy that I went with Ring.

My friend drew drew experience motion detection terrible / mount sucks.

I really like this product but the mounting hardware is so flimsy... it's almost as if the mounting was an after thought....

update - motion detection SUCK! only keeping it as a theft deterrent

A review Mick B tell us Looked like new!.

Package came sealed like OEM, product looked new, easy to install, cant say what the battery life is like as we have ours hardwired.
Would have no hesitation in buying again.

Update: Quit working, just displays a black screen.
Reset, changed wifi network, firmware update, just black video.
Amazon return policy to the rescue.

Another customer Fowler1506 experience Unit arrived DOA. Did anyone test this?.

Didn't respond to setup button or anything even with battery fully charged. Disappointing. Update - second unit I received didn't even detect motion.
Just went with a new one...

My friend jumper experience Perfect condition & otherwise OEM New in every way.

This product arrived in sealed perfect "retail" packaging. It worked perfect and is a great value.

Download the Ring app. Hit the button to right top of doorbell button and watch white flashing as it finds the Wi-Fi and connects.
Note: I installed a brand new Ring doorbell for a family member a few weeks ago and this just like the NEW product

Review John P. Krzyzanowski tell us Easy to install and setup..

I sent back another doorbell because the mounting sucked. The Ring was easy to install and set up

Another customer Amazon Customer say No more refurbished products for me!.

The doorbell has connection issues so I ordered a chime pro to increase the range. It didn’t extend anymore than just the doorbell itself. Granted the refurbished chime and refurbished doorbell itself might have something to do with this. I picked another mounting location closer to the router that gets a good enough reception and proceeded to mount the unit. This is when I discovered the back plate that seals the doorbell was installed incorrectly leaving a gap around the entire doorbell. I’m reasonably sure that this will create moisture issues so after trying to tighten the screws my self I realized they were all put in on an angle stripping the screws and housing. This gap also creates an issue where the supplied mounting screws are too short so I needed to use other screws I had on hand to mount the doorbell to the wall plate. Needless to say this experience definitely makes me rethink my purchases of refurbished items in the future. Come on Amazon you can do better.

Review Brett Warman experience THE Most Frustrating Device You'll Ever Own.

If you're expecting this device to actually trickle charge off your doorbell wire and ring your existing chime, dream on. I've been fighting with this thing for 18 months and now I've completely given up. I'll replace this with another product as soon as my prepaid annual storage subscription is up. My only regret on that day will be the mounting anchors drilled into the brick that I'll need to remove and fill.

In short, things worked fine right out of the box. Then about a month later, I noticed the light indicating it was "hard-wired" would go on and off at different times of day, different temperatures, etc. It flaked out like this for a few weeks then stopped charging and ringing the chime altogether.

I have spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to get this thing to work. New transformer with a better volt-amps rating. New chime that is listed as "tested and compatible" on the Ring web site. Calls to Ring Support; emails to Ring Support... all dead ends where they don't respond after I spend time sending them photos of wiring connections and multi-meter tests, etc. Combing through endless articles, videos, message boards. Cutting into my interior drywall to run new doorbell wire (just in case... this was a real "win" with my wife). Absolutely... nothing... worked. Occasionally, when you reset the device with the hidden setup button, it will find power. The next day, it's back to battery mode. Search the web on this issue and you will be overwhelmed... so many people fighting with this thing. Whether it's bad firmware or flaky capacitors, who knows? I even bought a 2nd unit that was certified refurbished and on sale just to see if things had improved with a later manufacture date. No dice, same issues, I returned it to Amazon.

If you just want to run this device in battery mode with a plug-in wi-fi chime, I'd say it's not bad. The mobile app is polished and intuitive. Battery life of the camera is surprisingly good if you can fine tune the motion zones to the location. However, if you want to hard-wire a video doorbell to avoid dealing with dead batteries or doorbell chimes that need to be networked (which is totally absurd), you absolutely need to look elsewhere. I thought of cutting my losses and upgrading to a Ring Pro... but I honestly can't stomach giving this product line any more of my time or money.
