 This microscope is very easy to use. It does not take long for my 10 years old to learn how and begin to use it. The package arrived in well shape and the contents inside are well organized. Everything was easily located when I opened the box. No assembling requires. I was surprised that it is also came with 4 specimen samples to get me started to test out the microscope mechanism. The usage operation is very smooth. The focus lenses smoothly rotate and lock-in to position. I struggle bit at first when I tried to get a focus on the specimen with 40x lens, the lens is small, the specimen is need to be aligned precisely within lens focus. Best thing I like about this microscope is the smart phone mounting kit which I can place the phone camera and align it with viewing lens, so that allow me to video and/or take picture of a specimen under microscope. This mounting accessory best if use with lighter weigh smart phone. I get a bit struggle when using with my samsung s8 note due to weight but when I manage to mount and align the lenses, the small multiple sucker cups hold the phone very well. If have a kid who love exploring micro level this is a good starter kit.

Me and my kids unboxed this microscope and it only took a few minutes to figure out how to make it work best. We looked at some of the included specimens like the fly’s leg and the kids were fascinated. We looked at it zoomed out, then zoomed in more, and then zoomed in all the way. But my very favorite part of having this microscope is that it has unlocked more creativity in my kids. The next day they were asking me if we could look at more stuff under the microscope. Then they wanted to go outside and find their own specimens. In this age of constant tv and video games, it is nice to see my kids exploring nature more.

Pro tip: find a place in your home where this microscope can sit out and be available all the time. If you have to get it out of the box and set it up every single time you want to use it, you will find that it just won’t get used very often.

The microscope came well packed and was ready to use just out of the box after adding 3 AA batteries to illuminate the LED. It came with a box with 10 slides, including a few pre-made slides and some blank ones. There are 3 interchangeable objective lenses of various magnification ( 4x, 10x, 40x) and 2 eye piece( 10x and 25x). Maximum magification is 1000x which can be achieved using 40x objective lense and 25x eye piece. Operation is simple and optics are clear. It requires a bit of patience and proper adjustments of light to focus at very high magnification, where image is sometimes blurry. I purchased it for my 10 year old to introduce her to the world of biology and get her hand on it, and my young scientist is beyond happy and excited to explore. I attached a couple of pics of the slides (out of many) that she made herself. Not only the materials but, every food goes through the lense of microscope before reaching her gut..:-)

Dealing with russet mites in the greenhouse right now, and this baby is way easier to use, and gives a much clearer image than a field loupe. I was even able to identify a fungal infestation on the cellular level. The phone attachment is awesome once you can properly angle your phone.

From beginners to seasoned users, this is a great steal.

A lovely firm to deal with and more than helpful. It took me a long months to make a choice, as so many types on the market. Without getting my hands on one to try, it became months of reading. When you mix the eyepiece 25X and objective 40X the you will get 1000X magnification.

We did A LOT of research on microscopes before we settled on these. We wanted something high quality for our teenagers but not crazy expensive in case our kids lose interest. They loved this scope! It was easy for them to use (just like they have at school), and everything worked like it was supposed to. For the price, we felt we got s very high quality instrument to last for many years. We also purchased extra pre-made slides by amscope so the kids had something to look at right away. They also had a lot of fun finding their own objects to look at under the scope. We are so glad we went with this model and didn’t go for the cheaper student models. This scope will most likely take them through college. We are very happy with our purchase

This microscope is slightly better built than other ones I tried, the base and many parts are metal.
The magnification of this unit does go to 1000x, you need to use a different eyepiece. Because that eye piece is a little shorter, the phone holder doesn't rotate downward all the way, but that's not really an issue. The phone holder is great, but you do need the case of your phone to be off unless it's a slim case with a smooth back.
I'm not sure what the lights are, but there is top lighting and bottom lighting, meaning you can look through transparent slides and solid objects like coins. only either light source could be used, but you can easily mod it to do both. The unit runs on 3x AA which is just 5v, so it can conveniently be modded for a permanent power source.

The lights are adjustable and there are color filters from the bottom light source.

The knobs feel nice and like a professional microscope have 2 dials on each side for fine tuning.

When you look for budget microscopes, you'll always be faced with multiple problems.

1. There's no backlighting, so you need to be a well lit area to use your surround light.
2. The magnification is horrible.
3. The build quality is horrible and made of plastic.

With this microscope, for it's price, you don't get any of these sacrifices. This is a very competitively placed microscope, with tons of features. You have multiple lens pieces to increase the magnification of the already nice options you have to zoom in. The microscope is powered by batteries, so there is a backlight as well. The entire build of the microscope body is made of metal, so it has a nice premium weight to it.

This kit also comes with a box of empty slides and sample slides for you as well, which is great for exploring or making your own slides. I don't see anything wrong with this microscope, and the price of this just makes it a lot more convincing to grab.

I am homeschooling my Middle Schooler (she’s 14) and this is a very affordable microscope to nurture her STEM learning. It’s battery operated with a LED light and pretty light-weight. It has a cool attachment to take photos with your cellphone (those are photos she took above) but you can really just hold the phone up if your hand is steady. The Amazon listing has good information, better than the manual which is in many languages. I also used study-dot-com to get lessons. YouTube has a zillion things. It came with some pre-made slides and some slides you can make at home (a piece of hair and root, or a small piece of skin for example).

The power (up to 1000x) is great for an at-home model or even a high school model. I could test her math a tad too talking about the compound effects of the lenses. The LED lights are super bright. Absolutely no complaints from us.

Everything you need to “play” with it is in the kit.

Other things you might want to consider getting — some canned air to help keep things clean and a lint free lens cloth. I bought more pre-made slides (different company) but they are all plants, so try to find a variety. I bought more blank slides too (there are a few included in the kit) but if you want to make more permanent slides, research what you will need for that (dye, etc.)

This is one of the powerful microscope that I can be bought in such a low price range . I got it for my sister who has just started studying Microbiology. This was really a influential gift for encouraging her to do good in her career path. The microscope has a combination of lens that you can use to peek into the world of microorganism. It is easy to use and doesn’t require presence of sunlight as it comes with its own artificial light source that is battery operated. This is also easy to focus as it has both coarse and fine adjustment knob that are easy to operate. The built material of the microscope is also tough and feels like a lab grade microscope. It also comes with a box of permanent slides that can act as a starter for anyone. Moreover, it also comes with a phone mount that can be used to take photograph of any specimen under the microscope. The images seen under the microscope are also clear and visible enough for academic purpose too.
